QR Codes Make Online Wedding Invitations Easy

QR codes make online RSVP simple

You see them everywhere these days. Those weird, pixely squares on billboards, car decals, magazine ads, etc. If you know what they’re for you might zap it with your smart phone and be transported somewhere in the digital realm. They’re Quick Response (QR) codes, and they’re the fastest way to get somewhere on the web without having to make a single keystroke. That makes them perfect for an online invitation RSVP, and that’s why Mightyvites now offers QR codes as an optional detail on RSVP enclosures.

Are we jumping on the bandwagon? I don’t think so. Really! Think about it: you receive a Mightyvite in the mail–a beautiful letterpress invitation that requests you RSVP online. Next to the printed web address is a QR code. Instead of typing the web address into a browser all you have to do is fire up the QR app on your cell phone and zap the invitation code. Boom! Now you’re at the correct RSVP website. No fumbled URLs that take you to the wrong place. No 404 “page not found” errors. Just the exact place you’re supposed to go to RSVP to your friend’s wedding. The cost? Just $15 to have a QR printed on every invitation. That’s a small investment for big convenience.

Chicagoland’s Seasons Dental Care Chose Mighty Nice

Seasons Dental Care is a general, cosmetic, and implant dentistry practice in Arlington Heights, Illinois. The owner, Dr. John Pontikes, came to Mighty Nice wanting a website that matched the look and feel of his impressively constructed and decorated office space. He understood that his dental practice’s website would be the online extension of his office, and he needed someone who could deliver a fresh website in tune with the existing Seasons Dental Care identity. We like to think we delivered with seasonsdentalcare.com, a custom website design powered by WordPress.

We actually finished the Seasons Dental Care website this past June, but our summer was so hectic with Mightyvites and my wedding that I haven’t been able to blog about it until now. The website is significant because it is the last client website that Mighty Nice will produce. After nearly four years of web consulting and construction for dentists, ophthalmologists, and day cares we have decided to stop taking new web clients, but continue serving existing customers, to focus on Mightyvites.

This change in business was a tough, but welcomed decision for us to make. Stephanie and I both enjoy combining our web talents to provide small businesses with the online identity they need. Our true passion, however, lies in the hybrid invitation experiment called Mightyvites. Our first year in the wedding invitation business went better than expected, and with only so many hours in a day, and a lot more work to be done, streamlining our business to one service/product was necessary. That’s good news for our growth, and a decision we hope helps us sustain.

Our First Day Care Website Turned Out Mighty Nice!

Some of you may have noticed that our blog has been quiet the past few months. That’s a good thing, because it means we’ve been busy. Since the first of the year orders for wedding Mightyvites have been steady, and we’ve been building websites. One of the website projects we were working on recently completed. Thankfully the client, and we, were thrilled with the outcome.

Belle Meade Children’s Center (BMCC) in Nashville, Tennessee is a ministry of Belle Meade United Methodist Church. The director at the day care is Steph & I’s aunt, and we were excited when she contacted us at the end of last year to talk about BMCC’s online needs. The children’s center had a tall order: they needed a large staff profile section, password-protected classroom pages, and easy to update calendars to relay lunch, organization, and classroom information to customers. That’s more than what Mighty Nice typically builds for clients, but we were happy to help.

It took a couple months but we did deliver an exciting website. Each classroom is equipped with its own blog that faculty can update to keep parents in the loop of their children’s activities. Each blog is password protected so only parents of the children in a classroom have access. For calendars we integrated Google Calendars via Google Apps, providing an intuitive interface for managing a sophisticated timeline. The rest of the website’s pages were custom designed for BMCC and brought to life with WordPress power.

The Belle Meade Children’s Center project was a fun one for Steph & I. We got to work with our aunt, which was a real pleasure, plus we got to know her colleagues. Great people, and I hope the site serves them, and the parents of BMCC, well for many years to come.

Mighty Nice Letterpress Business Cards!

I spent the last few days on press printing some fancy new business cards for us at Mighty Nice. We’ve found that our letterpress cards receive a good response. The texture of the printing is subtle, yet beautiful. Also, the paper we use is 100% cotton rag, which is very thick and feels almost cloth-like to the touch. People always notice this, and we receive many complements.

Looking forward to handing out our new business cards!

I wanted our new cards to be single-sided because I could then print with a slightly deeper impression and show off the printing process a bit more. However, it was a challenge to fit all of our information on one side and still have a clean yet eye-catching design. We felt we needed a phrase or a sentence that describes the kind of work we do—hence, “hybrid invitations, websites, and more!” Furthermore, we have two important websites for our company: our Mightyvites site for the invitations we produce and our Mighty Nice site, which showcases the websites we design. Add this to the usual name, telephone, logo, and e-mail address, and you’ve got yourself a lot of information to cram onto a card! The challenge then becomes making the design appear uncluttered and memorable.

We’re pretty happy with how they turned out. The printing and design came out nicely, and the metallic silver ink catches the light every now and then to cast a slight shimmer. Hopefully, recipients of this card in the days to come will take note and remember us for their invitation and web design needs.

But of course, we’re biased…what do you think of our new cards?

Chicago Wedding Planner Sweetchic Events

Earlier this week we had the opportunity to meet with Charlene of Sweetchic Events. Charlene had contacted us about our Mightyvites and wanted to get the scoop on how our hybrid invitation system can benefit her clients. We were more than happy to show her print samples and give a demo of how the matching online RSVP and wedding details work. Another Mighty Nice Dentist Website: Congratulations Dr. Miller!

We recently launched the website of Dr. Thomas R. Miller in Troy, New York. Dr. Miller is our second client in New York state and the fourth cosmetic dentist we’ve had the pleasure of working with. Dr. Miller hired Mighty Nice for a website makeover that included a site redesign, logo redesign, and WordPress-backed development. This site is the first we’ve done with an integrated blog and RSS feed.

We’re excited to announce that we’ll be showcasing our invites at the Jenny Yoo Collection Fall Bridal Soirée. The event gives nearlyweds the opportunity to preview Jenny Yoo’s 2011 fall fashion show and meet with wedding professionals.
