When I was a kid my parents used to take Stephanie and I to this place called The Bristol Renaissance Faire. As you may have guessed it’s a renfair. We used to think it was the coolest place because it felt like a step back in time. I remember deep fried mushrooms being flung around through a trail of hot oil that singed anyone in its path. I also recall getting lost, which led to my parents frantically searching for me and becoming aggravated because whenever they asked a “local” for help the wench, warlock, or whathaveyou wouldn’t break character and insisted on talking in medieval English. Those were fun days at Bristol. Fun, weird days. Why bring this up? Because the latest addition to the Mightyvites gallery, the Bristol wedding invitation design, shares the same name as that now strange but once magical place.

Name is about the only thing this stunning wedding invitation has in common with the Bristol Renaissance Faire. The gritty, uncivilized nature of the medieval ages is nothing like the clean and sophisticated look of the Bristol design. Pictured in the gallery in colors citrine and charcoal Bristol is available in both letterpress and digital print. The design can be printed on cream, pearl, or white paper and both the invitation and RSVP enclosure are assembled in pre-addressed envelopes of the same color.

Letterpress Wedding Invitation Features New York’s Catskills

Over the summer Steph, our family, and I attended the super fun wedding of our New York City dwelling cousin Courtney and her now-wife Kelly. The couple invited all of their guests out of the hubbub of their (sub)urban lives and into the tranquility of upstate New York’s Catskills.

To extend the invite Steph cooked up a custom themed letterpress wedding invitation featuring Catskills conifers and mountains. Letterpressed in colors crimson and robin’s egg on white paper, then paired with matching enclosures and an RSVP website, the complete hybrid invitation looked grand.

Courtney and Kelly didn’t stop with the invite. Instead they went the extra mile and had us letterpress matching place cards to help with the seating of their guests at the reception. Not as well known as our hybrid invitations, place cards are another piece of wedding paper that we do often provide. They’re a great way to carry the theme of the wedding, set by the invitation and/or save the date, to the actual event table.

Now you can enjoy the Catskill invitation too! It’s currently available in the gallery for either letterpress or digital print and is perfect for an upstate New York wedding or anything that involves skiing (yes, the invite reminds me of a day out on the slopes). Drunken Monkey Invitation Finds A Home In The Mightyvites Gallery

You’ve seen them letterpressed, and you’ve read who they were letterpressed for, and now we’ve brought that over indulgent primate to the Mightyvites invitation gallery! This is our first addition to the gallery in a long time simply because we’ve been crazy busy with other stuff. We’re happy to make it available though because the drunken monkey is one of our favorite invitation designs.

This 5″x7″ invitation has only ever been printed by letterpress but we are making it available for digital print. The gallery version shows the design in colors mocha and sapphire but customers can customize their version with any color on our palette. The letterpress version printed for customers Bas & Sarah was on cream paper, but the design would look great on white or pearl.

The drunken monkey design has been used for wedding invitations and would be perfect for any jubilant affair, especially if libations are involved. As with all Mightyvites a drunken monkey invitation would include a matching RSVP enclosure and website, pre-addressed envelopes, and guest list management with our online tools. Bottom line: if you need a fun but classy invitation for your wedding, holiday party, or other special event then I bet your guests will go bananas over a drunken monkey invitation.

Letterpress Wedding Invitations Made To Order

As an extra special supplement to our letterpress wedding invitations post from last week we have this video of the drunken monkeys being made. Stephanie put this video together of her two color design being printed on a Heidelberg cylinder letterpress. In this video the last of the two colors, gold, is being printed for customers Sarah and Bas’ wedding invitations. A lot of work goes into letterpress printing, and this video will give you a taste of it. Enjoy!

Letterpress Wedding Invitations Get Wild With Drunken Monkeys

Weddings are fun. They are a sacred and joyful occassion followed by a big party. We all know that everyone looks forward to the reception because of the food, drinks, and dancing so why not put fun at the forefront of the wedding and include something different on your wedding invitations? Something like…a drunken monkey!! That must have been what customers Sarah and Bas were thinking when they contacted us about Steph’s drunken monkey coaster design and said they wanted that on their letterpress wedding invitations.

Sarah and Bas went the full nine yards with their wedding invitations. A custom design was needed to create an invitation out of the drunken monkeys and then the customers chose two color letterpress on cream paper to bring the invites to life. How’d they look? Well, one recipient told Sarah “your wedding invitations were STUNNING. Love, love, love them.” Not a surprising reaction. These letterpress wedding invitations were nothing short of fantastic. The colors, sapphire and gold, are a great combination and the design is both sophisticated and fun.

Chicago Wedding Invitation Brings Skyline To The Gallery

When Steph and I moved back to Chicago to start Mightyvites we were happy to find a new watering hole in our new neighborhood of Logan Square. The bar was named Cole’s, and we quickly adopted it as our evening escape from the home office. Since then many Mightyvites ideas have been hatched on Cole’s bar stools, and many conversations have been had with Cole himself. Cole knows all about our business and has watched us grow Mightyvites from nothing. That said, we were thrilled when Cole’s fiancee Sara contacted us to create a Chicago-themed wedding invitation plus matching place cards for their November affair.

We were thankful for the opportunity to create an invitation for our favorite bartender’s wedding. Not only did we get to make something unique for Cole & Sara but their design brought a much-needed addition to the Mightyvites gallery: a Chicago-themed invitation. Recently we added the design to the gallery under the name Skyline, so now any Chicago-loving customer can choose it for their big day.

Skyline is a 4″x9″ invitation and is available in both letterpress and digital print. The gallery version shows the design in colors frost and midnight but customers can alter the invitation with colors of their own choosing. As with all Mightyvites a matching RSVP website is included with each purchase and matching save the dates, place cards, and/or thank you cards can be made.

Sweet Pea Wedding Invitation Debuts As Design In The Gallery

As you might imagine we deal with a lot of weddings around here. Prior to October 1st, however, there was one wedding that dominated our time. Mine! Yes, the love of my life and I were hitched on October 1st, 2011. It was an unforgettable day with tons of friends, family, and good times. To get people to attend we of course used a Mightyvite. My sister, Stephanie–the design genius here at Mightyvites–was tasked with creating a wedding invitation of sweet pea flowers in a particular shade of green. Why sweet peas? Because that’s what I call Tina, my now wife, then bride-to-be.

Steph did, of course, get the job done right. She made a beautiful invitation that set a wonderful tone for our wedding. The design was a hit with our guests, and worked well on the invitations, place cards, and thank you cards that we ordered. Because the design looked so good we decided to make it available to our customers. That said, I proudly introduce to you, and the Mightyvites gallery, the sweetpea invitation design.

Sweetpea is a 5″x7″ invitation design available in both letterpress and digital print. It’s a single color design and is show in the gallery as lemongrass. Note that our invitations differed from the gallery offering by being a square shape and using a color not on the standard Mightyvites palette. As you can see from the embossed look of the invitations, we went with letterpress.

Rolling Waves Wins As Wedding Invitation Design

We’ve been busy around here at Mightyvites HQ. Between full-time work, my wedding plans, and moving there hasn’t been much time the past few months for new Mightyvites designs or features. We did, however, hold a design poll last month, and there was a clear winner: water.

August’s design poll was influenced by Chicago’s Air & Water Show. The design chosen by our fans for an invitation was an image of big, rolling sea waves. The end results is a new addition to the Mightyvites gallery: the rolling waves invitation design.

We’ve done nautical wedding invites before, but not like this. Here we have Moby Dick-style waves that look like they’ll crash right off the paper and into your lap.

Rolling waves invitations are 5″x7″ prints done digitally or by letterpress. The gallery version of the design is shown in colors dewdrop and chocolate. As with all Mightyvites the invitations guests receive in the mail are matched in design by a RSVP website.

Invitation With Border: The Dainty Floral Debut

July’s design poll winner was, by far, the dainty floral border. This lovely border consists of an intricate, tightly repeated pattern which I find reminiscent of a landscape you’d see in an English garden. As promised we’ve used the border in a new invitation design for the Mightyvites gallery. Predictably named “dainty floral” this new flowery invitation option is wonderful for a wedding or other formal affair.

Presented in colors robin’s egg and steel the dainty floral design is a 5″x7″ invitation available in both letterpress and digital print. As with all Mightyvites the invitation is accompanied by an enclosure that directs guests to RSVP online at a website that matches the invite they received in the mail.

Mightyvites Invitations Highlighted In The Fall Issue Of Chicago Style Weddings

Last week Steph and I attended the launch party for the Fall issue of Chicago Style Weddings. Steph had been interviewed for the magazine and at the launch they passed out copies of the new issue. We were thrilled to see that on page 352, under the “invitations, guests & favors style file”, Mightyvites are featured front and center! Showcased is the ginkgo design, letterpressed, in the color citrine. It’s the same letterpress invitations we made for a customer and highlighted on the blog a few months back.
